Virtue of the Month: Perseverance

In February, we chose Perseverance as our virtue. The preschool class practiced this virtue with fun songs and movements. The children sang three songs about this principle: “Keep on Keeping on,” “I Can Do Anything,” and “Let’s Get to It.” Perseverance aligns with Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance, the core values of Falun Dafa. Through these playful songs, the students discovered that perseverance helps us push onward despite hardship and difficulties.

LLA Chinese New Year Celebration

On February 16, 2026, as snow fell, laughter and the aroma of delicious food shared by families filled Little Lotus Academy. Teachers, students, and relatives gathered to celebrate the 2026 Chinese New Year. The strong festive atmosphere spread throughout the building.

Entire families attended, while others made time in their busy schedules to help with preparations and volunteer. To ensure a smooth celebration, teachers and students spent the week before decorating, preparing games and activities, and writing couplets.

The celebrations began with a lively lion dance performed by fourth and fifth graders. The principal then personally distributed red envelopes and offered New Year's blessings to the children. Afterwards, everyone enjoyed a festive feast, featuring a long table filled with sour, sweet, and spicy dishes prepared by each family. It was a true “Little Lotus Family Reunion Feast.”

After the meal, games and activities started. Students helped teachers set up, and the activities offered something for everyone. The preschool hosted “Pin the Tail on the Horse.” Kindergarten and first grade ran “Sugar Painting.” Second and third graders created crafts like Little Lucky Rocking Horse, Fireworks, and ran the Bean Picking game. Fourth and fifth graders planned “Year of the Horse” greeting cards, window paper cutouts, plate paintings, lantern riddles, and blowing ping-pong balls. Children moved between classrooms, enjoying games and crafts with their parents. The atmosphere was warm, harmonious, and filled with parent-child fun.

Group Meditation

In November, Little Lotus rearranged the daily schedule so that the entire school could meditate together as one body.  The students line up in the hallway in two neat lines and wait for the music to begin.  Teachers rotate daily to correct students’ movements.  Our Pre-K students, aged 3-4, also join in from time to time.  Although everything outside is covered in snow, inside everyone feels warm and cozy, practicing Falun Dafa exercises together.
