Due to a snow day, Little Lotus Academy held its Culture & Talent Showcase after the winter break, creating a warm celebration of learning, virtue, and community. We thank all families for supporting their children and our school; your presence made the event meaningful.
The program opened with our choir’s stirring national anthem, setting an uplifting tone. Kindergarten and first graders delighted the audience with the song-dance “A Hat for My Snowman,” which captures seasonal cheer. Second and third graders performed “The Tree of Virtues,” highlighting kindness, honesty, and responsibility, key values we foster.
Preschoolers confidently showcased our bilingual program by reciting Hong Yin in Chinese and English, a Tang poem in Chinese, and singing “Butterfly” in English, illustrating their cultural learning. Kindergarteners and first graders performed “Enlightenment of Rhythm,” and second and third grade Chinese classes presented “The Song of Chi Le” in traditional Mongolian attire, bringing history to life.
Throughout the event, students in grades K-5 showcased their musical talents with solo performances on piano, violin, and cello. English classes recited poems and sang songs, demonstrating confidence and fluency. During the intermission, families enjoyed light refreshments and shared smiles and conversations in a warm holiday atmosphere.
The second half opened with boys performing Chinese classical dance techniques, followed by Chinese-language presentations. Second and third graders performed “Writing Chinese Characters,” celebrating calligraphy, while fourth and fifth graders presented “Great Yu Controls the Floods,” illustrating perseverance and service, virtues that inspire our students.
The choir returned with festive Christmas carols, filling the room with holiday spirit. Fourth and fifth graders closed the event with a lively “Hippo Song” performance, sending everyone home smiling.
This year’s showcase reflected Little Lotus Academy’s commitment to bilingual education, character, and the arts. We are proud of our students’ courage and growth, and thank families for partnering in academic and character excellence.
