Virtue of the Month: Gratitude
Read the Chinese version here.
During November, not only did Little Lotus Academy students learn about gratitude, but they also experienced the beauty bestowed upon all beings by the Creator, the precious coexistence between humanity and all things, and the relationship of mutual love and help among people, and also spreading gratitude.
The children expressed their sincere feelings of gratitude through writing English poems, writing thank-you cards in Chinese and English, and drawing adorable pictures. These are some of the students’ words:
“We are grateful to Master for everything He has given us, and we will forever remember this gratitude!” - Aaron Wang
“We cherish every second of our lives. We are grateful to the Creator for this world, and we are grateful to the Creator for teaching us to return to morality!” - Tianqi Lu
“Mom, I love you. You work hard at your job. Thank you for cooking for us!” - Yihan Chen
“Dad, thank you for taking me to and from school every day! I love you.” - Amber Yang
“Teacher, thank you for preparing the lessons so carefully and making them so interesting!” - Louie Zeng
“Dear Teacher, thank you! When I do wrong things, you always care about me, help me improve, and correct myself in the Fa.” - Adam Yu
Gratitude is like a ray of golden sunshine. As we cherish what we have and what we have received. It is also like a delicate seed, handing forth the promise of hope and beauty for everything around us. When we acknowledge the kindness and goodness of others, we are planting the seeds of gratitude which is the same as aspiring to, and doing good ourselves. This act further propels the blossoming of even greater virtues to blossom within us.
